Love Your Pet Day

Yes, today, the 20th of February, is National Love Your Pet Day, although I don’t think any of us need an excuse to love our pets. They give us so much that we can’t help but return it to them.

But it is sad to think of the many pets who don’t get showered with love every day. Those who are in shelters or living on the streets.
All they want is a forever home and a human to love, even if other humans have shown them quite the opposite in the past!

So, how can we celebrate Love Your Pet Day?

  • Spend some quality time with your pets, whether it’s playing with them, going for a long walk, or simply cuddling. Give them your undivided attention. This is something cats and dogs really love!

  • Surprise your pets with a new toy.

  • Give your pets a spa day with a gentle bath, brushing, and nail trimming. They’ll appreciate the pampering.

  • Take your dogs on an outdoor adventure to a park or trail. Cats can enjoy some indoor playtime with interactive toys. Birds enjoy some quality interaction, too, and fish will love a new tank ornament to explore.

  • Capture precious moments with your pets by taking photos or creating a special photo album.

  • Consider donating to a local animal shelter or volunteering your time to help animals in need.

I have had pets around me my whole life, apart from three weeks during a house move, when I lost my dog just before and couldn’t get one from the shelter until after we had moved. It was awful, the longest three weeks of my life!

Pets make a huge difference to people by just being there, listening to us, making us laugh, getting us out and about, comforting us when we feel ill, and cheering us when we feel down in the dumps. We are often their world, and they shower us with unconditional love!

So whether your pet has fur, feathers or fins, four legs, two or none, take some time today to show them just how much they mean to us.
You will get it back, plus interest!

And let’s also spend today celebrating pets of all kinds in gifs, images, music or videos.
