🥜🥜🥜Let’s Eat Peanuts🥜🥜🥜

When is a nut not a nut? When it’s a peanut!
This is very true; they are not nuts at all, they are legumes!

A peanut plant

This month is Peanut Month, a word that makes some say yes, please, and I don't mean the cartoon!

Most people seem to go mad for peanuts and just can't leave them alone, whereas others, like me, can take or leave them.
Peanuts do deserve a celebratory month, though.

This nut, as it is called, is used in oil, goes well with chocolate, is made into peanut butter and peanut brittle and is an essential part of diets everywhere. It does, however, have the worst allergy of anything and can result in death. They are, however, very good for you in moderation! Peanuts have over 30 vitamins and nutrients and also have one of the best sources of antioxidants of anything.

The earliest known about them was they were cultivated in Peru about 8000 years ago. They have spread all over the world and are cultivated wherever the climate suits.

There  are now a lot of different flavoured peanuts available, including chocolate coated ones, but apparently nothing beats the original.
They are used as snacks, in main courses, desserts, cakes and biscuits.
In South America, some put a handful of peanuts in a bottle of Coke; it probably improves the taste of Coke, to be honest.

So to celebrate this month, what to do?
Well, the obvious is to eat peanuts, within reason cos they are fattening, and also try some of the different flavoured ones, of which there are loads in the shops, ranging from honey, chilli, tandoori and spicy, and many more. Make a peanut cake, or some biscuits, and sit and enjoy these wonderful little legumes.

So today, let's enjoy some peanuts and post all things peanut-related. Have fun !!
