๐๐๐Welcome to National Apple Month๐๐๐
An apple a day keeps the Doctor away, so the old saying goes, but not sure how true it is.
This month is National Apple Month, a time to appreciate apples, one of people's favourite fruits, and how good they are for you. There are over 7,500 varieties of apples in the world, but doubt you will see most of them.
As summer turns to Autumn/Fall, apples become increasingly popular, and are readily available, to eat, or to make some delicious cakes or puddings with them. There is nothing like a nice fruit bowl with different apples in it.
Apples are packed with vitamins and nutrients and are said to help the risk of heart problems, diabetes and certain cancers. So a nice crisp apple is not just very tasty but also good for you, and if you have excess, why not make an apple cake, or apple pudding, lovely in the cooler weather.
To celebrate the month, if you have an apple orchard near you, go and pick some. There is nothing like fresh apples off the tree.
Have some friends round and make and enjoy all sorts of apple dishes from sweet to savoury, even serve apple cider.
Make some cider and some apple cider vinegar for later use, and also freeze excess apples for use in apple sauce or even pies.
However you celebrate this month, make it full of apples and try some new varieties if you can find them. Let us know if you like apples if you cook with them, and if so, what you bake. There are loads of things to use them for. Apple pie is a favourite, and apple sauce to go with gammon or pork, cakes, and puddings are also popular. The ideas are down to you.
Letโs celebrate this great fruit and share all things apple-related - gifs, pics, music, etc.
