📼📼VCR Video Recorders📼📼
I am sure we all had one of these when they hit the market over here in the late 70's.
We had never seen anything like it, up until then if we were out, or a programme clashed on 2 channels, tough cookies, but now you could record from the television. We couldn't believe our luck. You could buy pre-recorded VCR tapes of films etc. or trot off to Blockbusters and hire a couple of vids for a quiet evening in.
Sadly however, things moved on very quickly and nowadays they have no place in our home. However any tapes you have can be made digital and if you send them off they come back as DVD's, and it could be a fun evening of some home movies or even your wedding vid. You could even take film off a cine camera and put it onto tape.
They were great machines in their day, but sadly something better, called DVDs, appeared, and now you can't give them away either. We now have endless channels of rubbish to watch on TV, and then there are things like Netflix and all associated channels.
I don’t think that we get nostalgic about DVD players or the rubbish on tele but I think the VCR holds a special place in our hearts.
So, let’s have your thoughts on these great machines, which were the start of something much bigger, and do you still have one and some tapes stored away in an attic cos you can’t bear to get rid of it?
Let's post our memories and thoughts on the good old VCR machine and have some fun with all things to do with the VCR!
All are welcome.
