๐๐Toast to Go๐๐
Toast, it is something we all eat and there is something comforting about a nice slice of toast.
But a slice of toast is not just a piece of boring bread chucked into a toaster and some artificial butter rubbish spread on it once done.
Everybody has their own way to enjoy toast, be it for breakfast, lunch, tea or supper. Some prefer it lightly toasted, or like me prefer it darker.
The first step is to decide your bread, there are 50/50, Toasting loaves, white bread, brown bread, seeded bread, you name it the choice is vast. I personally can't stand white bread, will eat 50/50 at a push and certainly not what they call a toasting loaf. I like brown bread with some seed on it and thick, it is impossible to toast thin or medium bread it goes like crispbread. Nowadays what they call thick is what we used to call medium
Now for the butter, and it has to be butter on toast, there is an argument that butter should only be used on naked toast. The choice is yours, and there is no point whatsoever in putting butter under things like peanut butter. Why do you need 2 lots of butter on a slice of toast, it is stupidity.
Now the topping, again, there are lots of choices and how much topping? You need to taste the topping but not swamp the toast with it.
The choice of topping can generally be broken down into 2 sections, savoury such as marmite, peanut butter, cream cheese or just butter.
The sweet toppings are obviously marmalade, jam chocolate spread and things like honey.
You can also have things like sardines on toast, pate on toast, scrambled egg or fried egg on toast and, of course, cheese on toast, yummy. Of course, we canโt forget a lovely toasted sandwich, but for that, you need a sandwich maker to do them properly.
So how do you like your toast, what sort of bread do your use, and what's your favourite topping?
Let's have some fun today and enjoy some lovely toast.
All are welcome.
