๐๐๐Time To Get Those Decorations Down!๐๐๐
Well, folks, itโs Twelfth night tonight, and time the Christmas decorations were down and packed away for another 348 days till most people start putting them back up again!!
I personally hate it when the decs come down, and Christmas is officially over. Everything looks dull and dreary, even the weather! Itโs always a great build-up to Christmas Day, etc., but it is all over far too quickly, and there is still loads of food left!!
Here are the reasons for taking them down by tonight:
A common superstition in many English-speaking countries is that it's bad luck to leave Christmas decorations up after Twelfth Night. Some traditions say that if decorations aren't taken down by Twelfth Night, they should stay up all year. Others say they should be left up until Candlemas Day, which is on February 2.
The tradition may have originated from the medieval idea that decorations left up after Candlemas Eve would be possessed by goblins.
Twelfth Night, also known as Epiphany Eve, is a Christian festival that marks the end of the 12 days of Christmas. In Christian tradition, Epiphany is when the Wise Men are believed to have visited Jesus.
So sorry, but they must come down!
Post anything you like to keep cheerful while taking the decs down.
