ππNursery Rhymes ππ
We all learnt Nursery Rhymes as a child, and still remember them to this day. They were fun to learn and you were so pleased when you could remember them. Some even represented something like Ring a Ring of Roses. This is related to the Black Death. The first line refers to the red ring rashes which occured on the skin. The 2nd line to a bunch of flowers or herbs which they thought would keep them safe and the 3rd line refers to the sneezing and spreading of the plague. The last line depicts the falling down of London due to the Black Death.
Most Nursery Rhymes go back a long long way with a few changes over the years. We used to have such fun playing in a group singing these, such as Baa Baa Black Sheep - doubt that is taught nowadays - Jack and Jill, and Humpty Dumpty to name a few.
They play an important part in early childhood development and education. They boost a child's vocabulary and language development and help them to develop social and emotional skills. They make learning fun and interesting as well.
I am not sure if kids today are taught these in school, cos many are not very PC, and it is a shame, cos the kids miss out on an important and fun part of learning.
Here is a very quick and easy quiz on nursery rhymes :
