🌭🌭National Sausage Month🌭🌭
October is National Sausage Month, and sausages deserve recognition. They are a good, cheapish, food, and really come into their own in the winter months.
This month highlights all sorts of sausages. And when we think of sausages we tend to think of the ordinary flavoured ones we eat but it includes sausages such as bratwurts and chorizos.
Sausages are popular at parties, and of course barbies. The every day sausage can be fried, grilled, ovened, making them an easy part of a meal to cook. They can be eaten at any time of the day and left to cool are nice with a salad or in a sandwich with mustard, or to top a pizza. There are loads of different sausages on the market, and some places have their own variety. We have Lincolnshire Sausages, which are pork with sage, and a good one is lovely. There are also veggie options as well, if you want to go down that road.
National Sausage Month began in 1994, and the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council began this month to make people aware of the variety and pleasure of eating sausages.
To celebrate this month, why not try some different flavours, there are loads to choose from. Choices in the UK include plain pork or beef, even chicken, Cumberland, pork and apple, pork and chorizo and black pudding sausages, to name a few.
You could if you felt adventurous make your own.
You could have a sausage party, invite some friends around to help you eat this delicious food.
How you cook them is a personal choice; we grill ours. The best place to buy them is a local butcher who makes his own, but not everybody has one of those. But wherever you buy them, make sure they are decent ones; a cheap sausage tastes and looks awful.
So enjoy National Sausage Month and tell us which are your favourite sausages, how you cook them, and post all things sausage related!!
