🪴🌻🌹National Gardening Day🪴🌻🌹
Well, yesterday was National Gardening Day, but a more important thread was posted!
Gardens come in all shapes and sizes, and some have plants, some fruit and veg, and some both, or, heaven forbid, some are just a mess and are neglected or even concreted!
Gardens have been around for centuries and people seem to love to potter in them and make them look pretty and useful.
It is now April and time to start getting the garden in order, seeds to sow, plants to repot and lawns to cut. There is nothing like a few hours in the garden at this time of year.
It is the time when things are reborn, plants that died down over winter suddenly spring to life, and you have colour.
And there is nothing nicer than going outside and cutting some daffs for a vase, or two, for the house.
Plant your veg to harvest later in the year, and look forward to those small new spuds which will appear, boiled with mint and butter or used in a potato salad with other home grown bits.
So, sit and look at your garden, are you happy with it? Are there plants that have grown too big or are in wrong place, or do you need to get some more plants? Is the garden tidy? It doesn't have to be perfect, but old flower pots, etc., around the place just give an air of couldn't care less. I know as we get older we don't have the energy we used to have, so if you find it difficult to keep the garden looking nice, there are always retired people advertising to do some gardening for not a lot of money. You will be surprised by the difference it makes to how you feel to look out on a tidy, pretty garden with birds flying around or eating out of the feeders.
Take stock of your garden, make notes and take yourself down to the garden centre or places like B and M or Home Bargains, where you can get some nice plants, etc., for not a lot of money. Apart from anything else you will feel better for pottering about in fresh air.
Today, post all things garden-related, pics of plants or gardens, and tell us your dream garden!
