🖌️Let’s Go Decorating🖌️

Does the inside of your house look tired, maybe a bit drab, walls are a bit mucky and wallpaper faded or torn, or are you just bored with the colour scheme and feel like a change?
If the answer to any of them is yes, then it is time to redecorate.

Now, to some people this may seem like hard work, but with the right tools and a bit of time, you can transform a dull room into a completely different room.

The difference a bit of paint and some up to date stuff makes.

Decorating doesn't have to be expensive. You can buy expensive wallpaper, but who has wallpaper these days? A couple of tins of good quality emulsion will soon cover the walls and ceiling, and then a quick wash and sand down of the paintwork and a coat of fresh paint, and the job is more or less done.
Most people have the basic decorating tools, so that is one less expense. The worst bit about it is the moving stuff and covering any furniture etc. you can’t move out of the room.
Once the room has been painted, you can look at your furniture. Would it benefit from a clean with upholstery cleaner and then maybe some new cushions to brighten it up and match any new colour scheme you may have chosen? Maybe some new curtains or blinds and table cloths, and hey presto a completely new room.

The first job is to choose your colour scheme, so go to your local DIY store and get some colour charts. When you have decided, you can often get a very small pot of that colour paint to try on your wall to see if you would like it.

There are thousands of different colours and shades to choose from, and also different finishes on the paint. Half the fun is choosing which colour to have, and whether to do the whole house or just one room in it.
Then sort your tools and dustsheets out and you are ready to go.

How often you should redecorate is really down to how much you use a room. We do our kitchen and utility every few years, things like hallways, and lounges not so often, and bedrooms tend to be ok for a good few years unless you get bored with it of course.

So does your home need a new look? When was it last done? If so, it is a good time of year to start it, and even if you worked at a snail’s pace, you could have a completely transformed home by Christmas and think how lovely that will be with maybe some new Christmas decs as well!!

So let's talk about decorating, how often you do it, are you still happy with the colour scheme etc. etc and let's have some decorating fun, cos it can be great fun.

All are welcome.
And please feel free to share all discussions you enjoy.
