🍉🍇Let’s Eat Some Fruit🍉🍇
Fruit is something I would think we all like, but I bet not many of us eat enough of it.
Fruit can be eaten at any time of the day and in general, is good for you. Obviously, diabectics shouldn't eat too much of it.
We can have fruit for breakfast, and not just sit and eat a banana, it can be added to porridge, cereal, and to yogurt for a nice healthy tasty breakfast, lovely in the summer with plain Greek yogurt. Or why not grab some fruit, put it in a blender, and make a Smoothie, a lovely and healthy breakfast drink? So why not liven up your breakfast and try something different rather than the same thing every day.
It makes a good mid-morning snack, an apple or a pear for example, and for lunch an apple eaten after your lunch will clean your teeth for you.
You can add fruit to salads in the summer for a nice tasty salad for your tea, or have a bowl of mixed fruit as a dessert. There are things like fruit tarts and crumble if you like that sort of thing for wintertime.
How about some tasty homemade lovely lollies using fruit and they are so easy to make, all you need is a liquidiser and some lolly moulds. Wash fruit, or defrost if using frozen, blitz and put in the freezer. It is up to you if you add sugar and you can experiment with recipes and you know exactly what has gone into what you are eating. Much cheaper than shop-bought ones as well and the recipes are readily available on the internet. There isn’t much you can’t use. There are some good mixes of frozen fruit available both for this and for having at breakfast time.
The best time to buy fruit is when it is in season and not from abroad, you can't beat a punnet of English strawberries with ice cream or just as is. Obviously, some fruits are grown abroad and can’t be grown over here. Those are usually fine, but not strawberries or anything like that.
In the summer, for a nice afternoon out go and visit a farm that offers Pick Your Own, 3 in the mouth and one in the punnet!! Nice and fresh fruit that way, or go blackberry picking but somewhere away from a road where the fruit is covered with fumes. A nice afternoon out in the countryside, and you will get enough to make wine, jam or anything else you want.
And don’t forget the exotic fruits, many of which are readily available but some take some tracking down
So what’s your favourite fruit and how much fruit do you actually eat?
It is better for you than cakes and biscuits, or a stodgy pudding, and will benefit your health, your skin, your hair and your nails.
So today, let's have some fruity fun and post all this fruit related and sit back and eat some fruit!
All are welcome.
And please feel free to share all discussions you enjoy.
