🐣🐇👒It’s Easter At The Corner Café🐣🐇👒
Well, it is Easter Weekend, and what people call the start of the gardening season. That’s not quite true as some stuff should have been sown etc. before now, but the shops will be packed with plants and all sorts of garden-related stuff to try and appeal to the public.
Easter is a bit earlier this year, and although we expect some nice weather, I have known it snow at Easter before now.
The weekend is full of traditions, like Hot Cross Buns on the Friday. I know they are available all year but that to me spoils things. I remember as a kid having one on Good Friday, and it really was a treat. The ones on sale now as well aren't just the old-fashioned hot cross buns. I think it was cinnamon and apple we saw the other day. Ok, nice bun, but come on, it is not a traditional hot cross bun.
It is also the day of the Crucifixion and plays a very large part in the Christian Calendar.
Saturday is known as Holy Saturday and is not a Bank holiday. A lot of people go to Church on the Saturday.
Sunday is another Holy Day and is Resurrection Sunday. Another large event in the Christian calendar.
For most of us, it is a day of starting on our Easter Eggs, maybe going on an Easter Egg Hunt, and trying to find the Easter Bunny. Traditionally, the main meal is lamb on this day, representing the Lamb of God. It is also one Sunday when the shops are closed.
Monday is celebrated with Church services that mark the day after Christ rose. To most people though, it is just a Bank Holiday and a day off from work.
However you spend the weekend, I hope you have fun and plenty of Easter Eggs, and Kieran and I would like to wish you all a very Happy Easter!
All are welcome.
