πππ€£An Evening With Victoria Wood πππ€£
Thanks to Kieran for the main pic
Victoria Wood was born in 1953 and sadly passed away from a battle with cancer in 2016. She was one of the best comedians ever, and her shows and dramas were popular all over.
A lot of her observational comedy came from her teenage years, which were not happy. Some of the characters were based on that. She loved to sit and watch people and could make a comedy sketch out of nothing really.
She was basically shy and lacked confidence, partly because of her weight, but managed to not let it show. Sadly her personal life wasn't as much fun as her comedies. She got divorced in 2002 after a 22-year marriage.
She wrote and starred in dozens of sketches, plays, musicals, films and sitcoms. Her live appearances included her own compositions at the piano. Much of her humour was about everyday life, and she was noted for her skills in observational comedy and satirising aspects of social class She started in 1974 winning ATV's New Faces. She became famous in the 1980s and won her first BAFTA TV award for the series Victoria Wood as seen on TV, and the rest, they say, is history. She came 10th in ITV's poll of the British public's 50 greatest TV stars. Her work with Julie Walters was outstanding, and I defy anybody not to laugh at it.
This is one of her funniest sketches with Julie Walters.
She has written and performed in so many things, and never done anything that didn't have people in tears of laughter.
So we are going to have some Victoria Wood fun and post anything by her, including songs and clips from her TV shows, and anything else available about her. She was unique and there won't be another Victoria Wood for a long long time. She gave so many people so much laughter.
Let us know your thoughts on the late, great Victoria Wood, love her or hate her, she is gone but won't be forgotten
All are welcome.
